Durham County Council is the local government authority presiding over the town and surrounding lands of County Durham in the Northeast of England.

Serving more than half a million people, Durham County Council arranges waste collection across both urban and rural zones. Much of the council’s modern initiatives involve presiding over the limited but essential public housing in the region together with environmental initiatives in line with the various policies outlined by the national government in Westminister.

An official authority for almost 200 years, Durham County Council’s long history of governance and more than 120 councilors make its existence longstanding and widely appreciated.
