Ofsted, feared by headteachers and teachers alike since its formation in 1992, can be contacted on: 0300 123 4234.
The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) is Britain’s official government regulator and inspector of schools, childrens’ clubs and other similar academic/caregiving organisations.
Formed in 1992 under John Mayor’s government, Ofsted has since that time forged a strong reputation for thoroughly inspecting schools to a high standard. A poor rating from the authority results in the relevant establishment becoming scrutinised for performance, often resulting in major overhauls of management and general staff.
Benefitting from the experience of veteran or retired teaching staff it often hires to bolster its ranks, Ofsted remains highly regarded by schools and government departments alike.
