The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is an animal welfare charity campaigning on behalf of Britain’s many migratory and indigenous birds.

Since its founding toward the end of the 19th Century, the charity’s focus has expanded massively. It now lobbies and persuades relevant authorities on matters of nature conservation, pollution and general environment welfare of Britain’s avian species. Influential for more than a century, the society was codified by Royal Charter in 1904.

With a membership roster numbering more than a million, the RSPB is Europe’s largest conservational entity.
